English Department Braly Awards

All submissions to Bartleby each year, regardless of whether they are accepted for publication in the journal, are automatically considered for the annual Malcolm C. Braly Awards in fiction, poetry, and creative nonfiction. Each of the three awards is a $100 prize plus recognition at UMBC’s Student Recognition Day. These awards, named for the retired English professor who founded them, are judged by a panel of English department faculty, and are generously funded by English.  The pieces are anonymous when the judges read them.

Although any student can submit entries to the English department for these awards (the deadline each year is mid-February), submitting your work to Bartleby means it is entered for the award automatically!  So send your work to Bartleby!
